The Mountainous Water Management and Control Laboratory develops teaching and research activities in the areas: Torrential water management, Mountainous Hydro-meteorology, environmental hydrology and hydraulics, forest hydrology and snow management, watershed hydrological management, flood protection, Water shortage and water supply, reservoirs, sediment control, earthflows prevention, landslides, erosion and silting, natural and artificial lakes protection, erosion and desertification control, soil bio-engineering measures of hill and soil stabilization, dimensioning of the aforementioned introversions, Water canals, storage basin.

The laboratory of Mountainous Water Management and Control offers its services to regions authorities, prefectures, municipalities on issues of flood protection, mountainous torrential streams water management and for integrated water management in the mountainous area. Additionally, it consults free of charge the Forest Service so as to resolve composite torrential issues. .
